Conditions of Appointment
The information in this section explains the terms and conditions of appointment for the Associate Head of School roles.
These new appointments are offered as permanent, full-time academic contracts, as Principal Lecturer (or Reader) which will be your substantive post here at the University. We will allocate 50% of your time to this academic role. Please refer to the Principal Lecturer job description and person specification.
For the other 50% of your time, you will be seconded to the Associate Head of School role. This will be for a period of four years. Throughout this period we will support and guide your continued development both in the assigned specialism and in your academic pursuits. At the end of the four-year period we will discuss with you options for you to continue with a further secondment, focus 100% on your substantive academic role or move elsewhere within the University to further your personal development and growth.
The salary range for the role is £47,334 – £59,058 pa (with a review about to be implemented) together with competitive benefits including a pension scheme, generous holiday allowance and a lifestyle benefits scheme. This provides discounts on retail, leisure and transport. Our sports and recreation centre provides access to state of the art facilities where you can participate in regular classes, as many of our staff do. We have a cycle to work scheme, a car-share scheme for those who need travel assistance as well as many more benefits.
