School of Life Sciences

The School’s academic themes are Biomolecular Science, Sport and Exercise and Therapy and Food and Nutrition. Research from our associated Faculty Research Centre; Applied Biological and Exercise Sciences, informs our teaching and the majority of our teaching staff are fellows or senior fellows of the Higher Education Academy. The Faculty Research Centre achieved a REF2014 score where the majority of our research was judged to be world leading or internationally excellent.

We consistently receive excellent scores in the National Student Survey (NSS) and in individual subject tables.

In January 2017 we will be moving to our purpose built Science and Health Building, which will feature ‘Superlabs’ and an indoor running track.
